While you may not have known him in 2012, his appearance on The Simpsons and in Katy Perry's hit music video for California Gurls significantly brought Snoop back into popularity. The way I walk, my swag, came from playing football when I was a kid, he said. I used to fall and get back up. The clothes were available online only, but they still sold out quickly! Snoop has always had a soft spot for music with soul. One of his favorite songs to cover was Marvin Gaye's Sexual Healing, which he did as a duet with Mary J. Blige on her album, What's the 411? I'm not trying to compete with Marvin; he told Rolling Stone in 1993. I'm just paying homage.
Another one of his most fantastic covers is Young World by Curtis Mayfield. He also covered The Temptations' Just My Imagination with The D.O.C., Walk On By with Charlie Wilson, and many more. His cover of Stevie Wonder's track, Boogie On Reggae Woman, is just amazing! With his incomparable style and a deep appreciation for all music, it was no wonder he was chosen to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2011!
