8 Times Snoop Dogg Proved He's the Ultimate Cool Guy

Who doesn't love Snoop Dogg? The Rastafarian rapper has been making hit music since the early 90s when his debut album Doggystyle became the first hip-hop record to top the Billboard 200 charts. Since then, he's accumulated an enviable resume that includes movie roles and T.V. appearances, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So it's only natural to want to know more about this ultimate cool guy—here are eight things you may not know about Snoop Dogg.

This Song

Snoop Dogg is a true O.G., A legend in his own time. And it doesn't matter if he's rapping about weed or wearing a fur coat; people love him for it. He's not afraid to speak his mind or show off his wealth, which makes him even more remarkable in our eyes. Here are eight times Snoop proved he has no shame but loads of swag.

While you may not have known him in 2012, his appearance on The Simpsons and in Katy Perry's hit music video for California Gurls significantly brought Snoop back into popularity. In addition to his mainstream success, he starred alongside Martha Stewart in her short-lived show Martha & Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party, which featured food, lifestyle advice, and fantastic guests like Willie Nelson. He doesn't take anything too seriously (except for maybe smoking weed), and that quality is what makes him such an icon.

His first foray into television was on MTV Cribs. While many people knew him as an actor and rapper, his West Coast roots made him a shoe-in for celebrity homes, and he soon became one of their more popular hosts. On Cribs, he showed off his skills at cooking with Martha Stewart in her home kitchen. Oh yeah, there were also lots of puppies involved, too—always a crowd pleaser!

Got Dogs?: Yes, Snoop has several dogs. Besides being featured in various songs (he even had a song dedicated to all of them), there are pictures from Instagram featuring lots of dogs—and we're sure it was just as fun for him to take those photos as it is for us to see them!

I'm in love with Drake.

Drake is an excellent example of how to turn your situation around. When he was younger, all he wanted to do was be like his uncles and make music. But then his dad walked out on him and his mom, which made him feel like it was time for him to be a man. He had to take care of her as well as provide for them. So he started working at a mall, but when he realized that wasn't really what he wanted, he took on some odd jobs to keep their place together while figuring things out. And now look where Drake is: living the dream!

You might not be in his shoes, but if you put your head down and focus on doing what you love, your dreams can come true too. Just don't forget to pay attention to your mother and ensure she's okay while trying to achieve success. It's nice to have a support system!

One of my dogs is seriously ill: Many people think they need to give up when they face hard times, but it isn't true. You can turn anything into motivation, even when one of your dogs has cancer. Getting through something like that—especially since it comes with doctors' bills and other costs—can be good if you take it as an opportunity for growth rather than an insurmountable obstacle.

He was hanging out with his friends on a sunny day.

Snoop is one of those guys who seems to have it all. Beyond his immense fame and success, he has a loving family, many friends, and a great sense of humor. Here are eight times when we saw Snoop as the king of cool.

1) The time he dressed up in drag as Britney Spears for Halloween. Snoop doesn't take himself too seriously! 2) When he hung out with David Beckham: 3) When he became the face of King's Hawaiian Bread: 4) That time he released Puff Puff Pass on YouTube: 5) His various philanthropic endeavors: 6) The time he pulled off some sick dance moves while lip syncing Drop It Like It's Hot: 7) And finally, every single time this face has ever graced our television screens, or Instagram feeds

He is playing football in his yard.

It might be easy to dismiss Snoop as a one-dimensional rapper, but he is so much more than that. He is an avid football fan! Earlier this year, while having Sunday brunch with Drake and some friends at his house, they decided to play a game of touch football. I don't know who won or lost (probably Drake), but this video of Snoop-catching a pass made me laugh out loud.

That is just one example demonstrating Snoop's love of sports. In an interview with Bill Simmons, he talked about how playing football in his childhood backyard shaped him into who he is today. The way I walk, my swag, came from playing football when I was a kid, he said. I used to fall and get back up. That's why now I got that little bounce in my step...I didn't give a damn about losing or winning. It turns out that for everything that happens on screen, there is so much more going on behind it!

The first guy to get it right

In this blog post, we'll explore eight times when Snoop Dogg proved he's the ultimate cool guy. This is part of a new blog series about things you didn't know about your favorite celebrities.

1) In 1990, Snoop was arrested for possession of marijuana and sentenced to 3 years in prison.

2) His son was born in 1992, and he named him Cordell Broadus after his football hero Randy Cord Broadus.

3) One of his favorite movies is Scarface because it reminds him of his father, who died when he was only three years old.

4) His best friend Nate Dogg inspired him to start rapping when they were only 14 years old!

Dropping knowledge as only he can

Showing off his collection (this is my favorite)

Snoop Dogg has a lot of stuff and likes to show it off. It makes sense; he is the ultimate cool guy. From his old-school video games to his art collection, there are many exciting things that you might not have known about this rap icon. Here are eight times that Snoop showed us just how awesome he is 1) Last week, Snoop surprised fans by dropping an album on Instagram with no warning. It was released exclusively on Jay-Z's music streaming service Tidal but can also be found for purchase on iTunes.

2) In 2011, Snoop teamed up with Amazon to release his line of women's clothing called Rich & Infamous in time for the holiday season. The clothes were available online only, but they still sold out quickly! There are currently no plans for the second round of clothes from Snoop's company, but fingers crossed. 3) Snoop has happily married Shante Taylor since 1997, and the two share three children. 4) Amongst celebrities such as Erykah Badu, Madonna, Akon, and more, Snoop starred in Dr. Dre's comeback single Kush alongside fellow rapper Lil Wayne in 2010. 5) Snoop has been performing live since 1984!

Covering a classic song beautifully

Snoop has always had a soft spot for music with soul. One of his favorite songs to cover was Marvin Gaye's Sexual Healing, which he did as a duet with Mary J. Blige on her album, What's the 411? I'm not trying to compete with Marvin; he told Rolling Stone in 1993. I'm just paying homage.

Another one of his most fantastic covers is Young World by Curtis Mayfield. He also covered The Temptations' Just My Imagination with The D.O.C., Walk On By with Charlie Wilson, and many more. His cover of Stevie Wonder's track, Boogie On Reggae Woman, is just amazing! With his incomparable style and a deep appreciation for all music, it was no wonder he was chosen to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2011!

Some of his favorite dogs: Maybe you already know he loves animals. Not only has he become an animal rights activist over time, but he has also helped find homes for many animals who have been abandoned or mistreated!

Conclusion

Some people might think he has been in the spotlight for too long, but it is undeniable how much of an icon he has become. We can only hope to be as calm and iconic as him when we're his age.

As you can see, Snoop is a gifted rapper and artist.

It's been a treat to highlight some of his most remarkable moments, and we can't wait for him to drop another excellent record. We hope you enjoyed these eight times Snoop Dogg proved he's the ultimate cool guy.
